The Lean Canvas is a one-page business model template that is part of the Lean Startup methodology, which was developed by Eric Ries. It is designed to help entrepreneurs quickly and concisely communicate the key aspects of their business idea and create a snapshot of their business model.
The Lean Canvas consists of nine key building blocks or sections:
Problem: This section focuses on the pain points or challenges that your customers face. What problems are you trying to solve for your customers?
Solution: Here, you outline your proposed solution to the identified problems. What product or service are you offering to address the customer's needs?
Key Metrics: What are the critical numbers that tell you how your business is performing? This could include metrics like customer acquisition cost, lifetime value of a customer, conversion rates, etc.
Unique Value Proposition (UVP): What makes your product or service unique and why should customers choose it over alternatives? This is often a concise statement that communicates the key benefits of your offering.
Unfair Advantage: What gives your business a competitive edge? This could be a unique skill set, exclusive access to resources, or some other factor that makes it difficult for competitors to replicate your advantage.
Customer Segments: Identify the specific groups of people or organizations you are targeting as your customers. Who are your most important customers?
Channels: How will you reach and acquire customers? This section outlines the various marketing and distribution channels you plan to use.
Customer Relationships: Describe the type of relationship you aim to establish with your customers. This could be through personal assistance, self-service, automated services, etc.
Cost Structure: List the main costs associated with your business. What are the key expenses required to operate and sustain your business?
Revenue Streams: How will your business make money? Identify the different ways you plan to generate revenue.
